I started the day strong —
with a little bit of self-love.
It was a good day.
Today I said I love you,
not simply because it was something to say —
but because I really do.
It was a good day.
When my son came home from school,
I sat with him
and asked,
and really listened.
It was a good day.
It had been a while since we spoke,
so I gave you a call.
It was a good day.
I put things in my body and my mind
that will nourish and heal.
I exercised.
Meditated.
Read.
I let my creative flowers bloom.
I savored the moments in between.
I decided to let my hair down
and clown around —
after I had put on my serious face
to get some work done.
I planted seeds for your future
and for mine.
It was a good day.
When this day reaches its conclusion,
I want to be able to reflect
with no regret.
Because I showed up authentically
and gave it my best.
If this were my last day,
I would be inclined to say —
It was a good day.
